Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked within small Folk Music groups. The song was written with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver was introduced to an earlier version immediately, he realized it was destined to be the next hit single. The song was recorded just a few days following performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
